The Pittsburgh Pirates ended their season with a 4-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers Sunday. Jared Jones allowed one hit and did not walk a batter over four innings. He struck out five. Mason Montgomery closed the game by striking out two of the three batters he faced. He ends the year with 18 saves. Konnor Griffin, Nick Gonzales and Jake Mangum led the Bucs with six of their seven hits. Griffin hit his sixth home of the year. Gonzales ends the season batting .303, which was fourth-best in the National League.
Pirates outfielder Brian Reynolds appeared in all 162 games this season.
The Pirates lost two of three games in Detroit over the weekend, but still managed to end their year with a winning record of 82-80. It was their first winning season since going 82-79 in 2018.
