A Cowansville man has been placed in the Butler County Prison for allegedly driving erratically and threating several people with a knife.
On Thursday, police were called to Igloo Ice Cream for a two-vehicle accident and two people fighting. When officer spoke with the victim and witnesses, they said 23-year-old Ronald Wiegrand Jr. caused the accident.
According to charging documents, Wiegrand hit the victim’s vehicle causing it to spin out and hit an ice cream van in the parking lot. While exchanging information, a man approached and Wiegrand allegedly punching him in the face.
After hitting the man, Wiegrand allegedly took out a knife.
Wiegrand was taken to Butler Memorial hospital for a blood alcohol test as well.
He’s facing several charges including three counts of aggravated assault, two with a weapon, one with a vehicle.
Bail was set at $100,000 and a preliminary hearing was set for May 12.
