The Mars Area School District mascot has achieved national recognition following the final tabulations of a public vote.
The Fighting Planet secured victory as the Best High School Mascot in America as part of the 2026 National High School Mascot Brackets.
Although Mars trailed the Boiling Springs Bubblers at the conclusion of the vote earlier this week, editors noted that a review took place and eliminated a portion of votes suspected to have been cast by bots.
The final adjusted vote total saw Mars with nearly 900,000 votes or just over 60% of the number that were cast.
